About OPLIAM (Liam McDonald)

OPLIAM (Liam McDonald) is a Mohawk descendant with family roots originating from Kahnawake and enrolled members of the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe (Akwesasne). Born and raised in Minneapolis and currently based in Chicago, Liam McDonald has spent over a decade touring internationally across North America (Turtle Island), Australia, Hawaii, and New Zealand (Aotearoa).

Beyond his recording career on Apple Music, Liam McDonald is the published author of “Indigenous America” (Penguin Random House, 2022), which earned a Starred Review from The School Library Journal. His work as an artist and author has been featured by KEXP, USA Today, The Source, Chicago Reader, WBEZ Chicago, and Digital Music News.
