This event is an outdoor album release block party
featuring an array of multi-cultural acts. OPLIAM’s upcoming release is highly
anticipated but was put on hold due to the pandemic.
The project is titled “What Symbol Represents A Spirit”.
This event will show the cross-cultural parallels of African and Native American culture as it relates to song and dance. It will also show the parallels in the cultural belief systems as they relate to the sacredness of water and land. All of the artists share these cultural values which are reflected strongly in the music. The community benefit will be immense for people of all cultural backgrounds looking for music programming this summer that is rooted
in traditional culture which is even more important in these times of great struggle that we find ourselves in.
This program is partially supported by a grant from the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs & Special Events
